Getting Settled...

Unpacking stinks!! I think the boxes are multiplying and after almost 3 weeks of unpacking, there are still more to go. The garage seems to acquire a new box, still full of things, every couple of days and that is with me taking care of the ones in the house too. There has been major progress, I'm not complaining, but I just wish things would get back to normal and we could actually have a relaxing afternoon after work or a weekend that didn't involve boxes, bubble wrap, picture frames, etc. We haven't even had a chance to pull any weeds in the flower beds and despite the heat, the weeds are growing (not the flowers or plants). Pictures to come soon of the house, yard, etc.

On a better note, my bridesmaids picked out their dresses for the wedding and they all looked Great! My first wedding dress fitting is in the next couple of weeks so the wedding plans are starting to pick back up. Who needs a lull in planning anyway? Also, I hired a violinist to play before, during, and right after the ceremony. She is so awesome and I am so glad we are splurging on that part of our ceremony. Looks like we'll be cutting back in another area, so its back to the budget to find extra $$..

Time to hit the sheets and dream of empty boxes and wedding planners.. Hope to go to work tomorrow, without a stomach bug :)

Sadness for the neighbors...

Today the house next door to us caught on fire while both sets of neighbors were gone. Although the fire was under control soon, they lost quite a bit of stuff and both of their dogs were lost in the fire. Their cats survived because they were in the basement. We don't know what caused the fire yet, but it probably was small enough in the beginning that it could have been put out with a fire extinguisher had they been home. Several other people that J and I know have lost everything in recent house fires, so it just makes you think what all you would lose if something were to happen to your house.

If you need to brush up on your fire safety and prevention, here is a website that talks about all kinds of things that you can do to help keep your family and house safe: U.S. Fire Administration

J and I will be heading out this week to get a couple of fire extinguishers and we got some new batteries for our smoke detectors today (we want to keep our lil' Peanut safe :) ).

Let the bodies hit the floor...

Have you ever been sucked into YouTube and found something so absurd that you just had to share it with others? That is the category that this video is falling into. I hope you enjoy...

On another subject...Christmas is in full swing around this house. The first batch of Christmas candy has been made, most of the presents have been wrapped, yet something is missing...I think it may be the thing that the presents are supposed to go under. That's right. Our Christmas tree is still not up. We have gone yet another weekend without accomplishing the one task that we wanted to get done. Tuesday is our next goal. Hopefully we will get it up then. If so, pictures will be posted..if not, I will continue to blast Christmas music until J can no longer stand it and he bends to my will :)

Have a great week people!

Voting Video

Here's a little something that made me smile. It's different than what most of you have probably seen, so you should watch it anyway. Sorry that this video is about politics again, but with the election so close, I feel it is so important to remind people to go vote. The video is pretty funny. I promise after the week of November 4th, these will become part of the past...

Hey There Delilah

November 4th is quickly approaching, 16 days, so everyone get out and vote. I know it's been a while in blog land since you have seen a post from me, but I found this video and thought I must share it!! Enjoy! I'll try and be better in the near future about posting things..

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

What about them SIREENS??

I experienced one of the most eerie things last night after going to bed. No this is not going in some gross directions for all of the perverted friends I have. I'm talking about the tornado warning sirens that seemed to be part of a particularly strange dream I was having last night, but that turned out to be actual tornado sirens. The freakiest part was neither J nor I knew how long they had actually been going off. Then the panic sets in. J for some odd reason I will never understand calls 911 to make sure that it is an actual tornado warning (I was thinking, "NO, they are testing them at 1am to make sure they work", duh) but I guess it was the first number that came to mind. Oh well. We then ran around not knowing exactly what to do, picked up the Peanut dog and headed to the basement. After reaching the "safest" place in our house we realized that we are so unprepared for any type of natural hazards that could affect us. We have no radio, batteries, bottled water, flashlights, dog supplies, safe place to sit, etc. Also, we discovered during this episode that all rooms in our house have windows, even the BASEMENT. Come on people, who really puts BIG windows in a basement, and not just one, but 3. This is crazy. In the midst of the madness I realized that had we actually had a tornado, my purse, keys, wallet, important papers, shoes, everything would have been lost. I didn't even think to put shoes on or bring my purse to the basement with me. Can anyone say Dumbass?? Anyway, I have decided that it is my next project to make a safe place for J, Peanut, and I to go to and have the necessary living items such as water and some source of information, i.e. a radio or more particularly a weather radio, for us to keep informed with.

Anyway, now that I have discovered some faults in our non-existent emergency plan, I plan on making changes to provide safety for my lil family. Sorry for the long post...here's some eye candy to hopefully make up for the wordiness...

Turkey Day

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!! Hope your days are joyous and full of fun and not as crazy as mine is surely going to be. Thanksgiving is always so hectic when you have two families across the state to visit in such little time. Thats right. Today J and I will be going to my cousins house first, shovel some food in our pie holes and get the heck out of there to fly like bats out of hell to Rich-city. Once there, we might be seeing one of J's ex's because for some reason she thinks that she still is entitled to his family even though they have been broken up for years. WOO HOO! Its gonna be awesome!

BTW, I am revealing my very first homemade double layer cake today. Chocolate cake with an out of this world peanut butter icing. Wish me luck in that it makes it to the first Thanksgiving dinner in one piece.

Since it is Thanksgiving lets all give thanks for what we have and remember that we are very fortunate to have the lives we have! Here are just a few things I am thankful for.
1. I'm thankul for J. He is amazing and makes my life full of love and laughter.
2. I'm thankful for family. Mine can be a little loud and crazy but I wouldn't change any of them. And
3. I'm thankful for friends. Somehow they are always there to brighten your day and show up when you need them most.

Eats lots, love much, and laugh often!
